What makes Finca El Trueno Coffee special?

Finca El Trueno comes from one of Honduras' most prestigious coffee regions—Marcala—where altitude and volcanic soil create ideal growing conditions. This 100% organic coffee is honey-processed, meaning the cherry's natural fruit layer stays on during drying, creating unique sweetness. Producer Nelson Domínguez works, ensuring every bean meets strict quality standards while supporting sustainable farming practices. The result? A coffee that scores consistently high on specialty coffee standards while maintaining authentic Honduran character.

What does "Honey, citrus and floral" actually taste like?

Imagine sipping coffee that greets you with the aroma of fresh flowers blooming in your cup. The "honey" isn't added sweetness—it's the natural fruit sugars from the honey processing that create a smooth, almost syrupy mouthfeel with gentle sweetness that coats your palate. The "citrus" brings bright, clean acidity similar to orange zest—not sour, but lively and refreshing. The "floral" notes appear as delicate aromatics, like walking through a garden in the morning. Together, they create a balanced cup that's neither too bold nor too mild—just perfectly harmonious.

The Story Behind your cup

Every bag of Finca El Trueno tells the story of Nelson Domínguez, an international coffee judge who works alongside his brother Julio at 1,750 meters in Los Planes, Marcala. Nelson applies his expert knowledge to produce honey-processed coffee that consistently scores above 88 points.

The farm's unique ecosystem—where bees cross-pollinate between citrus trees and coffee plants, surrounded by wild berries—creates the distinctive honey, citrus, and sweet fruit notes that make each cup exceptional. When you drink Finca El Trueno, you're experiencing Nelson's philosophy: "the love and positive energy we put into caring for the plants is transmitted in the drink you consume." You're not just enjoying premium Honduran coffee—you're connecting with a master craftsman's dedication and supporting his mission to provide educational opportunities for around 20 children and community members through coffee excellence.
