Nacimiento: A Family Farm, Two Generations, One Cup

Some coffees carry one name. This one carries a family.

Nacimiento comes from Marcala, Honduras, grown at 1,650 meters by Alba Marina Parada and Francisco Javier Bautista — a husband-and-wife team who've spent their careers working the same land. But the coffee in this bag also carries a second signature: their daughter, Yojana Bautista, handles the processing. Second generation, same farm, same commitment to doing it right.

We named it Nacimiento — "a beginning" — because that's exactly what it is. A new chapter for the family, and a new addition to our lineup.

Two varieties, one method

Parainema and Obatá grow side by side on the Bautista farm, then get processed together as a natural: whole cherries laid out to dry slowly in the sun, no pulping, no washing, just time and patience. Natural processing is unforgiving — uneven drying or a few days of bad weather can ruin a lot — which is exactly why Yojana's hands-on attention to every stage matters. She turns the cherries, monitors moisture, and pulls them at the precise point where sweetness peaks without tipping into fermented off-flavors.

What's in the cup

Strawberry. Red fruits. Caramel. This is a fruit-forward cup with real sweetness up front and a caramel warmth that rounds out the finish — bright without being sharp, sweet without being cloying.

By the third sip

You'll understand why we call it Nacimiento. It's the kind of coffee that opens up as it cools, revealing more fruit, more sweetness, more of what Alba Marina, Francisco Javier, and Yojana put into it. Direct trade means this family was paid fairly for a coffee that took real skill to pull off — and it means you're the one who gets to taste that skill.

Nacimiento is available now in 12oz and 2lb.
